What is Voice Production Therapy?

In the therapy sessions we learn and practice correct voice production on the basis of learning the anatomy and understanding the physiology and proper function of our voice production system. We learn together to recognize the conditions and situations which are problematic for us and then work on improving them to suite us. We talk about combining the techniques we have practiced into our daily routine.

What is the format of the therapy sessions?

30 minutes for a one on one session.
45-60 minutes for a group session.

What kind of problems can be helped in vocal therapy?

Voice hoarseness, weak voice production, strenuous or painful voice production, pitchy voice production. Any other concern one might have in connection to voice production.

 

What are the main causes of these problems?

Vocal chord nodules as a result of improper use of the voice.
Vocal chord polyps
Vocal chord swelling and edema.
Incomplete closing of the vocal chords.
